Brantley Family

Thanks to information obtained from the Brantley Association, my Brantley family can be traced back to Josiah C. BRANTLEY, born about 1770. He and his wife Nancy had at least seven children James, Temperance, Henry, Martha, Nancy, Elizabeth and Josiah, who were born in NC and KY.
At some point, this family moved to Illinois. In 2001, I received from the Illinois Regional Archives Depository, copies of the 1832 marriage record for Henry and his wife Agness CHIPMAN and the 1831 marriage record for Nancy BRANTLEY and her husband James BLAIR. (See thumbnails below).
Josiah BRANTLEY is found on page 49 of the book "First Settlers of Red River County, Texas" by Gifford White. He is under "Third Class Certificates Reported Genuine (Arrivals between 1 October 1837 and 1 January 1840)" No. 620 Brantley, Josiah, 640 acres, Date of Certif. "Jany 1, 1840". I am not sure if this was Josiah C. or his son Josiah?
Thanks to Shirley HENDERSON BUEHLER, we now have a photo of GW BRANTLEY's mother, Martha Paralee MONTGOMERY BRANTLEY. Shirley BUEHLER is also a GG grandaughter of Martha Paralee and Ebben BRANTLEY through Paralee and Ebbens's daughter Martha. I believe that GW looks quite a bit like his mother, Paralee. New

I regret that some of the below documents aren't very legible in the larger version. After you get to the larger image, leave your mouse on the image and a colored square may appear in the lower right corner of the image. If you click on that square, the image will enlarge even further and become clearer. I'm not sure if this will work with all computers?
